The transformation of higher education driven by digital technologies, evolving labor market demands, and increasing global competitiveness required Islamic higher education institutions to develop governance systems that were adaptive, innovative, and future-oriented. This study aimed to examine a future-oriented governance model for Islamic higher education institutions in enhancing institutional innovation and graduate competitiveness through the synthesis of previous research findings. The study employed a qualitative library research design using a meta-synthesis approach. Data were collected from eighty qualitative research articles published in reputable international journals between 2016 and 2025 and were systematically selected using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses protocol. The data were analyzed through thematic and content analysis to identify recurring themes, integrate conceptual perspectives, and develop a comprehensive conceptual model. The findings demonstrated that future-oriented governance in Islamic higher education was constructed through the integration of strategic leadership, digital transformation, innovation culture, Islamic values, and graduate competitiveness within an adaptive and sustainable institutional ecosystem. The proposed conceptual model extended the theoretical discourse on Islamic higher education governance while providing a strategic framework for institutional policies that foster innovation, organizational resilience, and globally competitive graduates.
