Plagiarism Screening

Tanwirul: Journal of Islamic Education is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical publishing practices. To ensure the authenticity and credibility of published research, all submitted manuscripts are subjected to plagiarism screening before entering the peer-review process.

The journal does not tolerate any form of plagiarism, including:

  • Direct plagiarism;

  • Self-plagiarism;

  • Mosaic plagiarism;

  • Data plagiarism;

  • Image plagiarism;

  • Citation manipulation;

  • Duplicate publication;

  • Redundant publication.

Plagiarism Screening Process

All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software such as:

  • Turnitin;

  • iThenticate;

  • Similarity Check (Crossref);

  • Other recognized plagiarism detection tools.

The editorial team carefully evaluates the similarity report to distinguish between legitimate citations, references, commonly used academic terminology, and potential plagiarism.

Similarity Index Policy

The journal generally requires that manuscripts have a similarity index of:

  • Maximum 20% overall similarity, excluding references, quotations, bibliography, and standard methodological phrases.

  • No single source should exceed 5% similarity, unless properly quoted and cited.

Meeting the similarity threshold does not automatically guarantee acceptance. Editors will assess the nature, context, and extent of the similarity identified.

Editorial Actions

Based on the plagiarism screening results, the editorial team may take the following actions:

Accepted for Review

The manuscript proceeds to the peer-review process if the similarity level falls within the journal's acceptable limits and no evidence of plagiarism is identified.

Revision Required

Authors may be asked to revise and reduce similarity levels if excessive overlap is detected but no intentional plagiarism is found.

Rejection

The manuscript will be rejected immediately if plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, or other forms of academic misconduct are identified.

Post-Publication Screening

If plagiarism or publication misconduct is discovered after publication, the journal reserves the right to:

  • Publish a correction notice;

  • Issue an expression of concern;

  • Retract the article;

  • Remove the article from indexing services when necessary;

  • Notify the author's institution or relevant authorities.

These actions will be conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors' Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that their submitted work is original and properly cites all sources used.

By submitting a manuscript to Tanwirul: Journal of Islamic Education, authors declare that:

  • The manuscript is their original work;

  • All sources have been appropriately acknowledged and cited;

  • The manuscript has not been published elsewhere;

  • The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal;

  • No part of the manuscript violates copyright or intellectual property rights.
