Author Guidelines

Tanwirul: Journal of Islamic Education welcomes original empirical research articles, theoretical studies, literature reviews, and methodological papers that make significant scholarly contributions to the advancement of Islamic education. Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication by any other journal or publisher.

All submissions must fall within the journal's aims and scope and comply with its publication ethics and editorial policies.

Manuscript Preparation

Language

Tanwirul: Journal of Islamic Education accepts manuscripts written in either Indonesian or English, with English being the preferred language to enhance the journal's international visibility and readership. Authors submitting manuscripts in English are strongly encouraged to have their work professionally proofread or edited by a native English speaker or a qualified language editing service prior to submission to ensure that the manuscript meets international standards of academic writing.

Originality

Submitted manuscripts must be original scholarly works that have not been published previously and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts must be free from plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, citation manipulation, and any other forms of academic misconduct. Furthermore, every submission should demonstrate a clear element of novelty and provide a meaningful scholarly contribution to the advancement of Islamic education in accordance with the journal's aims and scope.

Manuscript Length

Submitted manuscripts should be between 4,000 and 7,000 words, including the tables, figures, and references. The main body of the manuscript from the Introduction through the Conclusion must contain at least 4,000 words (Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) to ensure that the research is presented comprehensively, systematically, and in sufficient depth.

File Format

Manuscripts must be prepared using Microsoft Word in .doc or .docx format and must follow the official Tanwirul: Journal of Islamic Education manuscript template. To ensure consistency and maintain a professional publication standard, authors are required to comply with the following formatting requirements:

• Font: Garamond throughout the manuscript.
• Article title: 14 pt, bold, Align Left, using Title Case.
• Section and subsection headings: 12 pt, bold, left-aligned.
• Main text: 12 pt, justified.
• Abstract and keywords: 11 pt, justified.
• Line spacing:
• Main text: 1.5 spacing.
• Abstract and keywords: single spacing.
• Paper size: A4 (21 × 29.7 cm).
• Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.
• Paragraph format: Justified with a first-line indentation of 1 cm.
• Page numbering: Authors should not insert page numbers, as they will be added during the production process.

Authors are required to apply these formatting specifications consistently throughout the manuscript, including the title, author information, abstract, keywords, main text, tables, figures, and references. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's formatting requirements may be returned to the authors for revision before proceeding to the peer-review process.

Manuscript Structure (IMRAD Format)

All manuscripts must follow the internationally recognized IMRAD structure (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion). This structure is intended to ensure that manuscripts are well organized, coherent, and consistent with national and international scholarly publishing standards.

1. Title

The title should be concise, specific, informative, and contain 10 - 15 words. It should accurately reflect the primary focus of the research, emphasize its novelty, and attract readers' attention without using uncommon abbreviations.

2. Author Information

The author information should include the authors' full names (without academic titles), institutional affiliations, country, ORCID ID (if available), and the email address of the corresponding author. This information facilitates author identification and enhances academic visibility through international indexing systems.

3. Abstract

The abstract should provide a comprehensive summary of the manuscript in a single paragraph consisting of 150 - 200 words. It should briefly describe the research background, objectives, methodology, principal findings, and conclusion. The abstract must not contain citations, tables, figures, equations, or undefined abbreviations, allowing it to stand alone as a complete summary of the study.

If the main text is written in Indonesian, authors are required to provide two abstracts, namely an English abstract and an Indonesian abstract. Both versions must convey equivalent content and should be written using appropriate academic language rather than being literal translations.

Conversely, if the main text is written in English, only an English abstract is required.

4. Keywords

Authors must provide three to five keywords that best represent the content of the manuscript. Keywords should accurately reflect the research topic, facilitate indexing and information retrieval, and should not simply repeat words appearing in the article title.

5. Introduction

The Introduction should present a comprehensive research background supported by relevant and up-to-date literature. Authors should clearly identify the research gap, explain the novelty of the study, state the research objectives, and describe the significance of the research for the advancement of Islamic education. The Introduction should clearly position the study within existing scholarship and demonstrate its academic contribution.

6. Methods

The Methods section should describe in sufficient detail the research design, methodological approach, participants or data sources, sampling procedures, research instruments, data collection procedures, data analysis techniques, and ethical considerations where applicable. The methodology should be presented systematically to enable other researchers to replicate the study.

7. Results

The Results section should present the research findings objectively, systematically, and logically without unnecessary interpretation. Findings may be presented in the form of narrative descriptions, tables, figures, graphs, or statistical analyses as appropriate. Information already presented in tables or figures should not be repeated extensively in the text; instead, authors should emphasize the most important findings.

8. Discussion

The Discussion should critically interpret the research findings by relating them to relevant theories and previous studies. Authors are expected to explain both the theoretical and practical implications of the findings, highlight the originality and scholarly contribution of the research, and discuss any limitations where appropriate. Rather than merely repeating the results, the Discussion should provide an in-depth interpretation of their significance.

9. Conclusion

The Conclusion should directly address the research objectives and summarize the principal findings in a concise yet comprehensive manner. It should also discuss the theoretical and practical implications of the study and provide recommendations for future research. New data or additional citations should not be introduced in this section.

10. Conflict of Interest Statement

Authors are required to disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that may have influenced the research or publication process. If no conflicts of interest exist, authors may include the following statement:

"The authors declare that there are no conflicts of interest regarding the research and publication of this article."

11. Acknowledgements (Optional)

The Acknowledgements section may be used to express appreciation to funding agencies, supporting institutions, research assistants, or individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship.

12 References

The reference list must be prepared in accordance with the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition referencing style. Authors are required to include a minimum of 25 and a maximum of 50 references, with the majority consisting of primary scholarly sources, particularly peer-reviewed journal articles. At least 90% of the references should be drawn from reputable scientific journals published within the last 10 years to ensure the currency and relevance of the literature. Authors are strongly encouraged to include Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) whenever available.

Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to ensure consistency and accuracy in citation formatting.

Tables and Figures

All tables and figures must be numbered consecutively according to their order of appearance in the manuscript and should be cited in the text before they appear. Table titles should be placed above the table, whereas figure captions should be placed below the figure. Tables must be created using editable text rather than images. Figures should be of high quality with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi to ensure clarity during publication. If any table, figure, photograph, or illustration is reproduced or adapted from another source, the original source must be properly acknowledged in accordance with the journal's citation requirements.

Citation Style

Tanwirul: Journal of Islamic Education follows the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition citation and referencing style.
