Tanwirul: Journal of Islamic Education is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity throughout the publication process. This statement is based on the principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and internationally recognized standards for scholarly publishing. All parties involved in the publication process including publishers, editors, reviewers, and authors are expected to adhere to these ethical principles.
The journal applies a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure fairness, objectivity, transparency, and academic quality.
Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher
The publisher of Tanwirul: Journal of Islamic Education is responsible for supporting editorial independence and ensuring that editorial decisions remain free from commercial, institutional, political, or personal influence.
The publisher shall:
- Support the integrity of the academic record.
- Protect editorial independence.
- Promote ethical publishing practices.
- Prevent publication malpractice.
- Facilitate the correction, clarification, retraction, or withdrawal of articles when necessary.

Ethical Responsibilities of Editors
Editors play a central role in maintaining the quality and integrity of the journal.
Editors shall:

Editors are responsible for determining which submitted manuscripts should be published based solely on scholarly merit, originality, significance, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.

Editors evaluate manuscripts without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, ethnicity, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs of the authors.
3. Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information regarding submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisors, and publisher as appropriate.
4. Conflict of Interest
Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, financial, institutional, or personal relationships.
5. Investigation of Misconduct
Editors shall take reasonable measures to identify and address allegations of research misconduct, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, and unethical research practices. Investigations shall follow COPE guidelines and procedures.
6. Corrections and Retractions

Reviews should be conducted objectively, professionally, and respectfully. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Reviewers should support their evaluations with clear arguments and evidence.
4. Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published works not cited by the authors and notify editors of any substantial similarity between the manuscript and other published works.
5. Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and decline review assignments where such conflicts exist.
6. Timeliness
Reviewers should complete reviews within the designated timeframe and promptly inform editors if they are unable to do so.
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are expected to uphold the highest standards of research integrity and ethical scholarship.
1. Originality
Authors must submit only original works. Manuscripts must not contain plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or manipulated data.
2. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal or publish substantially similar research in multiple journals.
3. Authorship
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant scholarly contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript prior to submission.
4. Data Integrity
Authors should present accurate research findings and retain underlying data for verification when requested by editors.
5. Citation and Acknowledgment
Authors must appropriately acknowledge the work of others and provide accurate citations for all sources used.
6. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that may influence the interpretation of their research findings.

8. Correction of Errors
When authors discover significant errors in their published work, they are obligated to promptly notify the editor and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions.
Publication Malpractice and Research Misconduct
The following practices are considered unethical and unacceptable:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Tanwirul recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic writing.
Therefore:
- AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot) cannot be listed as authors.
- Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of submitted manuscripts.
- Any substantial use of AI-assisted writing, translation, data analysis, or image generation should be transparently disclosed in the manuscript.
- AI-generated content must be carefully reviewed and verified by human authors before submission.
Complaints and Appeals
Authors may submit appeals regarding editorial decisions or complaints concerning editorial processes, peer review, or publication ethics. All appeals and complaints will be handled fairly, transparently, and confidentially in accordance with COPE recommendations.
