Digital Era Educational Leadership for Enhancing Organizational Agility in Islamic Higher Education

Digital transformation has reshaped higher education, requiring Islamic universities to strengthen educational leadership and organizational agility to remain adaptive and competitive. This study examined how digital educational leadership contributes to enhancing organizational agility in Islamic higher education institutions through a qualitative library research approach employing Meta-Ethnography. The study synthesized 80 qualitative articles published between 2016 and 2025 and retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, DOAJ, Google Scholar, and SINTA. The findings revealed five interconnected themes: digital educational leadership, digital transformation, adaptive university governance, organizational agility, and Islamic leadership values. These themes collectively demonstrated that institutional agility is achieved through the integration of visionary digital leadership, adaptive governance, and Islamic values that guide organizational transformation. Based on the synthesis, this study proposed the Digital Agile Islamic Leadership Framework as a conceptual model integrating digital leadership, institutional transformation, adaptive governance, organizational agility, and Islamic leadership values. The framework contributes theoretically by extending the discourse on digital educational leadership and provides practical guidance for strengthening sustainable digital governance, institutional resilience, innovation capacity, and global competitiveness in Islamic higher education.
