Reconstructing the Islamic Education Ecosystem Through Digital Spirituality and Global Citizenship Competence

The acceleration of digital transformation in higher education has triggered moral disconnection and cyber identity disorientation among Muslim students due to the imbalance between instrumental technical skills and deep ethical-spiritual awareness. This study aimed to formulate an integration model of digital spirituality and digital citizenship concepts within the Islamic education ecosystem to accelerate the achievement of global citizenship competence. A qualitative approach utilizing a library research method via a meta-synthesis approach was applied to rigorously evaluate a corpus of data sourced from Scopus, Google Scholar, and Sinta databases published between 2016 and 2025. The data screening process was executed systematically in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses protocol. The primary finding successfully formulated a new conceptual model called The Integrated Islamic Digital Ecosystem, which positions digital spirituality as the internal spiritual engine, cyber ethics as the guide for practical action, and Islamic global citizenship as the ultimate student competence outcome. Theoretically, this study contributes a new paradigm for a contemporary, integrative Islamic education technology curriculum. Practically, the model provides a strategic roadmap for higher education administrators in designing future digital instructional policies that are morally grounded and globally oriented.
