HyFlex Online Learning Environments for Fostering Inclusive Participation Among Muslim Students

The rapid advancement of digital learning has encouraged higher education institutions to adopt Hybrid-Flexible learning environments that accommodate students' diverse learning needs. However, previous studies have primarily emphasized technological effectiveness, while limited attention has been given to inclusive participation among Muslim students and the integration of Islamic values. This study aimed to analyze recent developments in Hybrid-Flexible online learning environments for fostering inclusive participation among Muslim students and to develop a conceptual framework for Islamic higher education. A qualitative library research design using a meta-synthesis approach was employed. Data were collected from scholarly publications published between 2016 and 2025 and retrieved from the Scopus, Google Scholar, and SINTA databases. The selected studies were synthesized through thematic and content analysis to identify dominant themes, research trends, and existing knowledge gaps. The findings demonstrated that Hybrid-Flexible learning environments effectively promoted inclusive participation when supported by interactive, flexible, student-centered pedagogical strategies and the integration of Islamic values. This study proposed the HyFlex Inclusive Islamic Learning Framework, integrating Hybrid-Flexible learning, digital pedagogy, inclusive participation, and Islamic values. The framework contributes to digital learning scholarship and provides practical guidance for designing inclusive learning environments in Islamic higher education.
