Author Guidelines

General Information

Ardi Pengabdian Masyarakat publishes high-quality scholarly articles reporting the implementation and outcomes of Community Service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat) activities. The journal welcomes original manuscripts that demonstrate innovation, active community engagement, measurable social impact, and sustainable solutions to challenges in education, social development, economics, technology, public health, environmental sustainability, law, culture, and other fields relevant to community empowerment.

Submitted manuscripts must be original works that have not been previously published, accepted for publication, or simultaneously submitted to another journal or publisher.

All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the Ardi Pengabdian Masyarakat Open Journal Systems (OJS).

Manuscript Language

Ardi Pengabdian Masyarakat accepts manuscripts written in:

  • Indonesian
  • English

Authors are encouraged to use clear, concise, and academically appropriate language throughout the manuscript. Manuscripts written in English should preferably undergo professional language editing or proofreading before submission to ensure grammatical accuracy, clarity, and readability.

Manuscript Originality

Authors are required to ensure that the submitted manuscript:

  • Is an original work and has not been previously published.
  • Is not under consideration for publication by another journal simultaneously.
  • Is free from plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and other forms of research misconduct.
  • Reports genuine Community Service activities conducted by the authors.
  • Complies with all requirements of the journal's Publication Ethics.

Submitted manuscripts must fall within the journal's Focus and Scope, including but not limited to:

Manuscript Preparation

Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the official Ardi Pengabdian Masyarakat Manuscript Template.

Manuscript Length

Submitted manuscripts should contain 3,500–6,000 words, excluding references, appendices, tables, and figures.

The main body of the manuscript, including the Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion, must comprise at least 3,500 words.

The manuscript should normally be 15–25 pages in length when prepared using the official Ardi Pengabdian Masyarakat manuscript template.

Authors are encouraged to present their work in a clear, concise, and well-structured manner. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's formatting or length requirements may be returned to the authors for revision before entering the peer-review process.

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts submitted to Ardi Pengabdian Masyarakat should be organized in the following order:

Title

The title should accurately reflect the content of the manuscript and clearly represent the Community Service activity being reported. It should be concise, informative, and specific while highlighting the main focus of the article. The title must not exceed 20 words and should avoid the use of uncommon abbreviations, acronyms, symbols, or technical jargon that may reduce clarity.

Author Information

The following information must be provided for all authors:

  • Full name of each author.
  • Institutional affiliation.
  • City and country.
  • ORCID iD (if available).
  • E-mail address of the corresponding author.

The order of authors should accurately reflect their respective contributions to the work. The corresponding author will be responsible for all communication with the Editorial Office throughout the submission, peer-review, and publication processes.

Abstract

The abstract must be written as a single paragraph containing 150-200 words and should provide a concise yet comprehensive summary of the entire manuscript. It should clearly present the background of the community problem, the objectives of the Community Service program, the methods employed, the principal findings, the impacts or benefits achieved for the target community, and the overall conclusion.

The abstract should be informative, objective, and written in clear academic English so that readers can readily understand the significance of the work without referring to the full article. Citations, tables, figures, mathematical equations, footnotes, and unexplained abbreviations should not be included in the abstract.

Keywords

Provide three to five (3–5) keywords that accurately represent the content of the manuscript. Keywords should be arranged alphabetically, separated by commas, and should avoid duplicating words already used in the title whenever possible. Authors are encouraged to select terms that enhance the discoverability and indexing of their manuscripts in academic databases.

Introduction

The Introduction should be structured systematically by presenting the background of the community issues that motivated the implementation of the Community Service program, accompanied by a clear identification of the problems faced by the community partners or target beneficiaries. Authors should provide a concise and relevant review of previous studies and Community Service initiatives to demonstrate the current state of knowledge and practice, followed by a gap analysis that highlights the novelty, urgency, and significance of the proposed program. Furthermore, the Introduction should clearly state the objectives of the Community Service activity and describe its expected contributions, including problem solving, community capacity building, institutional strengthening, and the promotion of sustainable social impacts. This section should be logically organized and supported by recent and relevant scholarly references to establish a strong academic foundation for the Community Service program.

Methods

The Methods section should describe the implementation of the Community Service program in a systematic, detailed, and transparent manner to ensure that the activities can be understood and, where appropriate, replicated in similar contexts. At a minimum, this section should include a description of the community partners, target beneficiaries, location and duration of the program, and the methods or approaches employed to address the identified community issues. Authors should also explain the nature of community participation throughout the implementation process, the instruments utilized, data collection procedures, and evaluation techniques used to assess the effectiveness, outcomes, and impacts of the program. Where appropriate, flowcharts or implementation diagrams may be included to enhance the clarity of the methodological process. The Methods section should provide sufficient detail to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and practical applicability in comparable Community Service settings.

Results

The Results section presents the principal findings of the Community Service program in an objective, systematic, and evidence-based manner. Authors should describe the implementation process, program outputs, the level of community participation, and the outcomes achieved in relation to the objectives of the program. The reported findings may include improvements in knowledge, skills, attitudes, institutional capacity, behavioral changes, innovations developed during the program, or other measurable impacts on the target community. Results should be supported by appropriate evidence, including quantitative or qualitative data, tables, figures, photographs, or other relevant documentation that strengthens the credibility of the reported outcomes. This section should present factual findings without extensive interpretation, as the analysis and interpretation of the results should be addressed in the subsequent Discussion section.

Discussion

The Discussion section should critically interpret and analyze the findings of the Community Service program by explaining their significance, relevance to the program objectives, and the effectiveness of the methods or approaches employed in addressing community needs. Authors should discuss the factors that facilitated or constrained the implementation of the program, including challenges encountered and the strategies adopted to overcome them. The discussion should also compare the findings with previous research or Community Service initiatives to identify similarities, differences, strengths, and the novelty of the implemented program. In addition, authors are encouraged to elaborate on the theoretical and practical implications of the findings, their contributions to community empowerment, and the potential sustainability or future development of the program. This section should be supported by recent and relevant scholarly literature to provide a logical, critical, and academically rigorous interpretation of the reported findings.

Conclusion

The Conclusion should be concise, clear, and directly reflect the principal achievements of the Community Service program based on the reported findings. It should summarize the main findings in relation to the objectives of the program, highlight the practical implications of the activities undertaken, and describe the benefits generated for the target community or community partners. Authors should also discuss the potential sustainability of the program, including opportunities for further development, community capacity enhancement, or replication in similar settings. In addition, the Conclusion should provide recommendations for future Community Service activities, particularly regarding methodological improvements, broader community engagement, and strategies for increasing program effectiveness. Rather than repeating the Discussion, the Conclusion should synthesize the major findings and emphasize the overall contribution and significance of the Community Service program.

Acknowledgements (Optional)

The Acknowledgements section is optional and may be used to recognize individuals, institutions, funding agencies, community partners, or organizations that made significant contributions to the implementation of the Community Service program but do not meet the criteria for authorship. Authors should ensure that all acknowledged parties have granted permission to be mentioned in the manuscript.

Conflict of Interest Statement

Authors must declare whether any financial, professional, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest exist that could have influenced the conduct, interpretation, or reporting of the Community Service program.

If no conflict of interest exists, the following statement should be included:

The authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest regarding the publication of this manuscript.

Tables

Tables should be prepared to present data clearly and effectively while avoiding unnecessary duplication of information already described in the text. Each table must be cited in the manuscript in numerical order and should include a concise and descriptive title placed above the table.

Tables should:

  • Be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals.
  • Include a clear and informative title above the table.
  • Be submitted in an editable format (not as images).
  • Include appropriate units of measurement where applicable.
  • Provide the data source when required.
  • Be formatted consistently throughout the manuscript.

Figures

Figures should be of high quality and sufficiently clear for publication. Each figure must be cited sequentially within the manuscript and accompanied by a descriptive caption placed below the figure.

Figures should:

  • Be presented in high resolution.
  • Be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals.
  • Include a concise and informative caption below the figure.
  • Clearly identify symbols, abbreviations, and legends where necessary.
  • Acknowledge the original source when adapted or reproduced from previously published materials.
  • Be submitted in a format suitable for high-quality publication.

References

The journal adopts the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition citation and referencing style.

Authors are required to:

  • Include a minimum of 15 references.
  • Ensure that at least 80% of the references have been published within the last ten years.
  • Give priority to articles published in reputable national and international peer-reviewed journals.
  • Use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or other compatible citation management tools to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all references cited in the text appear in the reference list and that every entry in the reference list is cited within the manuscript. References should be complete, accurate, and formatted consistently according to the APA 7th Edition guidelines.

Ethical Requirements

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the submitted manuscript comply with the highest standards of research and publication ethics. Prior to submission, authors must confirm that:

  • All data and information presented in the manuscript are authentic, accurate, and honestly reported.
  • Ethical principles have been observed throughout the planning, implementation, documentation, and reporting of the Community Service program.
  • Appropriate recognition has been given to all individuals and organizations that contributed to the work.
  • All listed authors have made substantial contributions to the manuscript and have reviewed and approved the final version before submission.
  • The manuscript fully complies with the journal's Publication Ethics and internationally accepted standards of academic integrity.

Authors are solely responsible for the accuracy, originality, and ethical integrity of the work submitted to the journal.

Plagiarism Policy

All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening before entering the peer-review process using recognized plagiarism detection software.

The journal applies the following similarity thresholds:

  • Overall Similarity Index: Maximum 25%
  • Similarity from a Single Source: Maximum 5%

Manuscripts exceeding these limits may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected at the discretion of the Editorial Office. Any evidence of plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated data, falsified data, or other forms of academic misconduct may result in immediate rejection or withdrawal of the manuscript in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Ardi Pengabdian Masyarakat undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process conducted by at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject matter of the manuscript.

The review process evaluates the manuscript based on several criteria, including originality, relevance, methodological rigor, scientific quality, clarity of presentation, significance of the Community Service program, and its contribution to knowledge and community development.

Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Office may issue one of the following decisions:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for making the final editorial decision after considering the reviewers' comments and recommendations. Editorial decisions are final and are made solely on the basis of academic merit, ethical standards, and the journal's publication criteria.

Copyright and Licensing

Copyright of published articles remains with the author(s). By submitting a manuscript to Ardi Pengabdian Masyarakat, authors grant the journal the right of first publication.

All published articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) License. This license permits users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, adapt, and reuse the published material in any medium or format, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source, a link to the license is provided, any modifications are clearly indicated, and any derivative works are distributed under the same license.

Authors retain the right to reuse, archive, and disseminate their published work in institutional repositories, personal websites, or other non-commercial platforms, provided that the original publication in Ardi Pengabdian Masyarakat is properly acknowledged.

Submission Procedure

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) of Ardi Pengabdian Masyarakat. Submissions sent via email or other communication channels will not be considered for review or publication.

Before submitting a manuscript, authors are required to complete the following steps:

  1. Register for an account or log in to the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS).
  2. Download and prepare the manuscript using the official Ardi Pengabdian Masyarakat manuscript template.
  3. Ensure that the manuscript fully complies with the journal's Author Guidelines, formatting requirements, and ethical standards.
  4. Complete all required manuscript metadata, including author information, title, abstract, keywords, and other requested details.
  5. Upload the manuscript together with any required supplementary files, where applicable.
  6. Confirm compliance with the Submission Preparation Checklist.
  7. Submit the manuscript through the journal's OJS for editorial evaluation.

Following submission, authors may monitor the progress of their manuscript through the OJS platform. All correspondence regarding editorial decisions, peer review, revisions, and publication will be conducted exclusively through the journal's online submission system.

Before submitting a manuscript, authors must confirm that all of the following requirements have been fulfilled:

  • □ The manuscript complies with the journal's Plagiarism Policy and similarity threshold requirements.
  • □ A Conflict of Interest Statement has been included in the manuscript.
  • □ All listed authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript prior to submission.

Submission of a manuscript indicates that the corresponding author confirms, on behalf of all co-authors, that the above requirements have been satisfied and that the manuscript complies with the editorial policies, ethical standards, and publication requirements of Ardi Pengabdian Masyarakat.
